Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival - Sapporo Snow Festival

On February 3 started the Lake Shikotsu Ice Festival 2009 in the Japanese city of Chitoze and on February 5, in the city of Sapporo, has opened 60th Sapporo Snow Festival 2009, which is represented by enormous snow sculptures, reaching 15 meters in height and 25 meters in width.

To create these ice and snow artwork, came dozens of teams from all over the world, sculptors came even from countries where is not snowing at all. The official budget in the Sapporo Snow Festival is estimated at 1.5 million dollars. This money is well spent if you consider that last year the snow festival was attended by 2.15 million people, including foreign tourists.
